2008 WWE King of the Ring

2008 WWE King of the Ring
William Regal - a big push followed by a 60 day suspension.

5/20/08

William Regal and the General Update - 5/20/2008

When William Regal lost to Ken Kennedy on Raw, I thought that the 2008 King of the Ring would be headed over to Smackdown to work with the Undertaker or Batista. Well, he's not. He's suspended. Smackdown could sure use another wrestler... anybody. I'd be relieved if Cody Rhodes got drafted over to the Blue Brand to work in a title program with Taker. I'd be relieved if Lance Cade got drafted over to the Blue Brand to work in a title program with Taker. I'd be relieved if the Brooklyn Brawler came out of retirement and got drafted to Smackdown to work in a title program with Taker. You get the point. I am sick of Undertaker v. Edge. I am sick of Batista v. Undertaker. I am sick of Batista v. Edge. I am sick of Undertaker v. Batista v. Edge. I am sick of everything on Smackdown... and I don't even watch Smackdown.

I'm happy to see that Vince McMahon is keeping a tough policy as far as drug and alcohol abuse is concerned. I'm very disappointed in William Regal. Of all the years I've been watching him work, I've never been as interested in him as I have been since he won the King of the Ring. This seemed as though it would be the push of his career. And he blew it. It will be interesting to see how he is brought back from his suspension just as it is interesting to see how Jeff Hardy is being utilized.

Speaking of Jeff Hardy and Umaga... they work great together. I'm sure their One Night Stand match will steal the show. I'm not watching the show though. It will be the first PPV in over a year that I'm skipping. It's a 'B' PPV and I've seen each match that has been booked so far more than 5 times. Nothing is going to happen at this PPV. I'll read the results.

The WWE goes into a lull after Wrestlemania. I think they could use some gimmick Pay Per Views after Backlash. Maybe King of the Ring should have been a PPV... and instead of 8 wrestlers - with 3 being jokes - there should have been 16 wrestlers and the entire tournament should have taken place during the PPV. If that was the case, the King of the Ring would truly have been a King of the Ring.

Honestly, how many times do I have to watch Triple H v. Randy Orton and Undertaker v. Edge and John Cena v. JBL and Jeff Hardy v. Umaga? How many times do I have to watch Santino Marella poke fun at an ex-superstar and have his ass handed to him? It's funny. I'm not saying it's unfunny. I'd just like to see Santino get a belt and work with some current wrestlers. Please, give him and Carlito the tag titles. They'd be as successful as the New Age Outlaws and funnier.

I have no control over any of this though. I'm not going to get worked up at how bland the WWE is right now. Like I said, they have a Wrestlemania Hangover right now. They have it each year. Things will pick up around Summerslam.

One last note, why did CM Punk win the Money in the Bank? He keeps losing cleanly to guys like John Morrison and The Miz. I don't understand. How am I supposed to believe that Punk can win a World title if he jobs to Johnny Nitro? Or am I supposed to believe that he covets the ECW Championship enough to use his Money in the Bank for that belt? Yeah... sorry, I don't believe that at all. CM Punk should be booked to win some matches and should be drafted to a better brand. But again... who am I? I'm not a booker, I'm just a looker.

Peace out...

Seannie Wan

Hardy Suspended/Updated Mania Card

Jeff Hardy has been suspended due to wellness policy issues for sixty days. This is why he dropped the ic belt in, presumably his last match for at least 59 days, to Y2j Chris Jericho, the sexy beast.

Chris Jericho's book is awesome. Everyone should read it at least twice.

WrestleMania XXIV, aside from the prescence of OIW, currently smells like this:
Triple Threat (no DQ) WWe championship match:
Triple H(hhh) v. John Cena( ) v. Randy Orton(c) (Excitement level: !!)

CLASSIC MATCH - Kurt Angle v. Chris Jericho v. Chris Benoit (Wrestlemania 2000)

In 1999 and early 2000, three world renowned athletes made their respective debuts as superstars with the WWe. Chris Jericho became Y2J, olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle became the WWe's first ever 'real' wrestler, and Chris Benoit was introduced as the leader of the radicals(along with Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn, and Dean Malenko), a group of very popular and talented wrestlers from then Ted Turner's WCW, who had swapped promotions seemingly overnight.

At Wrestlemania 2000 all these three talented on the risers made their Wrestlemania debuts together in OIW's fourteenth greatest match in Wrestlemania history. This was a very unique match in that both the European and Intercontinental Championships were on the line in a Triple Threat Match. It was a two-fall match. Fall 1 would decide the Intercontinental Championship with fall 2 awarding the European Championship.

Benoit used his fliying headbutt to pin Chris Jericho and win the first fall becoming the new Intercontinental Champion. The action continued and Angle went on the offensive, taking out both Benoit and Jericho, but then missing a moonsault. Jericho locked in the Lion Tamer on Angle, which Benoit broke up. As the match progressed, Jericho hooked in the Lion Tamer on Benoit this time, but Angle came back and knocked Jericho out with the European Championship. Benoit then suplexed Angle, but missed the headbutt. Jericho took advantage and hit the Lion Sault for the pin and the European Championship.

Kurt Angle came in with two championships and lost both without submitting or even being pinned once.

This match looks great on paper and floors expectations when you play it back.

Post-Raw Notes and Observations 2/12/2008

Raw was strong... strong and excellent in some ways. Yes, I still hate John Cena and I still hate Randy Orton and no, I don't hate the human beings John Cena and Randy Orton but the WWE products John Cena and Randy Orton. When I see Randy Orton on Raw - even though he is the WWE Champion - I think of Ted Danson's cameo in 'Saving Private Ryan'; unnecessary, momentum-killing, and utterly lame. When I see John Cena on Raw I think of Vin Diesel in 'XXX.' Bad analogies? Possibly. Bad wrestlers? Definitely.

Chris Jericho and JBL are picking up the pace. They're working out the rust. This will take them a little while as neither one of them has wrestled a regular schedule in years. I trust their talent enough to know that they will come around and I think that booking them to work with each other is the best way to go. JBL is such a fowl heel and Jericho is such a baby face and they both have such a winning career that the poor wrestling they have been displaying won't affect their standing with the audience. However, their match last night was the best yet. I believe this feud will lead right into Wrestlemania and I think the two of them will steal the show in Orlando.

The match of night and easily the best television match of the year thus far was Shawn Michaels and Jeff Hardy. I don't know why Shawn Michaels is still working but he is doing the right thing for the industry that he has made his living from. He is putting over the young, deserving stars and it was no different last night with Jeff Hardy. Jeff Hardy, on the other hand, needed a high-profile victory more than anybody else on the roster. He got f'd at the Royal Rumble ala John Cena. He had been groomed to win the WWE Championship and as soon as John Cena juked and jived his way to the ring at Madison Square Garden, Jeff Hardy was pushed to the back of the line behind Cena, HHH, Michaels, and hell, even Umaga... not really Umaga, but it wasn't fair!

But what is fair in today's WWE? Vince puts John Cena on top of the world because the little kids like him and he wants to market his product toward little kids, right? By the way, did anybody see Paul Burchill's new incest gimmick last night? Fucking McMahon... he's an enigma and quite frankly, I think he is insane.

The Michaels-Hardy match flowed effortlessly. Parts of the match were literally lines of poetry in motion. I didn't realize how much of Shawn Michael's style Jeff Hardy has used for his own until I saw them in the ring together. My respect for the Heartbreak Kid has grown immensely. He should and may take Hardy under his wing... not to teach him in-ring ability but to teach him charisma and how to speak to the audience. Jeff Hardy has the Triple H and the HBK seal-of-approval. If he can be patient, at some point one of three things will happen: 1. John Cena will really be hurt for 6 months to a year and Hardy will get his chance to shine or 2. Vince McMahon will be arrested or die or something and Triple H will be running the show and give Hardy the chance to shine or 3. The kids will become Internet marks and the bottom will fall out on John Cena and Hardy will get his chance to shine... OR, and I just came up with this so I guess I should have typed that at some point one of four things will happen but whatevie, Jeff Hardy will jump over to Smackdown... but I imagine I'd be bashing Batista every day instead of John Cena. Oh well...

Vince McMahon v. Finaly at Wrestlemania XXIV.

CLASSIC MATCH - Hulk Hogan v. The Ultimate Warrior (Wrestlemania VI)

Hulk Hogan v. The Ultimate Warrior
WWE Champion v. WWE Intercontinental Champion
Wrestlemania VI Main Event
April 1, 1990 at the Skydome in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

WINNER.... and NEW World Wrestling Federation Champion....
The Ultimate Warrior...

This was a match that couldn't happen. How could the WWE - at that time the WWF - tear my heart in two? How could WWF President Jack Tunney make a good guy - and not just any good guy, but THE good guy Hulk Hogan - wrestle another good guy - and not just any other good guy, but the most popular good guy since Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior? How would the crowd react? Who would the fans be cheering for? Hulk Hogan can't lose, can he? No... Hulk Hogan never loses... to bad guys.

This match took place before I had ever heard the terms 'babyface' or 'heel.' This match took place when Hulk Hogan was truly Immortal. This match took place when wrestling was a real competition between two athletes who had trained hard and scouted their opponent. In 1990, I had no idea that the competition I thought I was watching was actually a physical exhibition. I had no idea that Hogan and The Warrior discussed how the match would progress and what the 'high spots' would be and how the match would finish. I had no idea of all the locker room politics that must have gone into such a high-profile match between the two biggest money-making professional wrestlers on the planet. I had no idea that Hulk Hogan was looking to get out of the industry and go work in Hollywood.

What I did know in the beginning of the year of our Lord, 1990, was that with each Saturday morning, The Ultimate Warrior became more and more appealing to me. His entrance was so cool. His antics in the ring were so cool. His music was so cool. His look was so cool. The promos he cut made no sense but they were so cool to an 11 year old kid that they didn't have to make any sense. In 1990, Hulkamania became boring to me. In 1990, I wanted to see The Ultimate Warrior become the WWE (or WWF) Champion.

The tagline for this match was 'The Ultimate Challenge,' and I think that the tagline referred less to the actual match and more to the fans. Would the fans support a new top face? Would the fans jeer The Ultimate Warrior? Would the fans be able to handle their two heroes facing off against each other in Canada? The answers were 'For a little while,' 'No,' and 'Yes.'

The match itself was exciting only because of the caliber of the wrestlers. It was a popularity contest between the well-known biggest draw in the world and the up-and-coming cool new guy. Vince McMahon went with the cool new guy because the biggest draw in the world thought he could move on to bigger and better things. This sort of 'passing of the torch' match has happened several times at Wrestlemania and it had happened before this particular match was booked. However, this is the first time that the WWE dared to book two faces - the two most popular faces - in a Championship Main Event match at Wrestlemania. McMahon wasn't spoon-feeding his audience a main event that would have an obvious finish. He was putting the ball in his audience's court. He was daring in a way. Obviously his audience would accept The Warrior as the top star... he was immensely popular... but the chance of the winner and the new torch bearer being booed out of the Skydome was very real.

The match began with a stare-down/pose-down and moved onto a test of strength. The crowd ate it up. They cheered for both participants. It was unbelievable that this match was happening. As Gorilla Monsoon put it, the tension could truly 'be cut with a knife.'

Hogan injured his leg outside the ring and at one point told Earl Hebner that he could no longer continue the match. This was a heel move and a nice strategy to ensure that The Ultimate Warrior - who was pushed as a bigger face in this match - would be accepted as the winner.

Hogan was able to shake his head and stomp around the ring and point his finger and go numb to any offense Warrior was able to produce. It was a sure thing that Hogan would pass this 'Ultimate Challenge.' The swerve came as Hogan went to drop his big leg. The Warrior rolled out of the way and landed a body splash on the surprised Champion and covered him for a somewhat quick 1-2-3. The Skydome erupted in excitement.

Hogan put The Warrior over even more by handing him the WWE Championship Belt, embracing him in a very manly way, and raising The Warrior's hand in victory. The torch was passed... for about nine months...

When the WWE adopted the 'Attitude' moniker, the fundamental focus was creating a shade of grey between the opponents. I'll paraphrase Vince McMahon: 'Our audience is tired of Good Guy versus Bad Guy.' The excitement in the Skydome and the excitement in the suburban houses of all the kids watching Wrestlemania VI on Pay-Per-View was created by the prospect of the ultimate Good Guy versus another ultimate Good Guy. The excitement was the shade of grey. The excitement was the audience not really knowing who they wanted to win the match and not being able to assume who would win the match. As far as being the biggest possible match on the biggest wrestling event of the year; Hulk Hogan v. The Ultimate Warrior defined what a Wrestlemania Main Event should be. The excitement leading up to and surrounding this match defines what the excitement surrounding Wrestlemania should be.

Hogan v. Warrior is quite possibly the most memorable match in Wrestlemania history. It buried the already dead 'Rock and Wrestling' 1980's Bigger-is-Better Era. It ushered in an era without Hulk Hogan - although he wouldn't be gone from WWE television and Pay-Per-Views for another two years - and started the search for a new top draw. The Ultimate Warrior couldn't carry the torch that Hogan and McMahon bestowed upon him on April 1rst, 1990. However, it was clear that Hogan no longer wanted to carry it and it was clear that a new talent would have to reach for it. With Wrestlemania VI, the WWE as I had known it - and as all the wrestling fans from my generation had known it - was changed forever.

Here, for the loyal readers of OIW's viewing pleasure, is Hulk Hogan versus The Ultimate Warrior... The match is split into eight parts because we respect the OIW Nation's intelligence and time. We know that not only do our readers have better things to do than watch the complete match in one sitting, but we also know that our readers are intelligent fans who can live without a test of strength...

Regarding The Kidd's Spelling...

Nicely done... some of the best spelling I've seen all year.

As far as Melina and Maria... you're forgetting about Mickie James - yes, the same Mickie James that is much hotter than Maria.

Concerning the 'Incest Angle,' OIW does not support or condone incest. In fact, OIW is greatly offended by Vince McMahon's desire to do an incest storyline. It's uncomfortable and awkward and it will be another segment of Raw that will make me say to myself, 'Man, I wish WCW was still around so that not only would I not be watching this garbage, but if this garbage was still being produced, I could change the channel to WCW and see Goldberg maintain his undefeated streak.' I hate Incest and John Cena and adults kissing Vince McMahon's ass on national television. Why do I keep watching Raw?

If Bobby Lashley shows up in TNA I will be angry.

Raw Preview(non-spoiler), Against All Odds Results, more..

Tonights edition of Raw will run taped from last monday. Here is a rundown of what you can expect, shot(but not nessecarily to be run) in this order:
Hornswoggle v. McMahon-no dq
Y2J v. JBL-ends clean
The return of Paul Burchill in the debut of the 'incest angle' that's gotten internet buzz elsewhere as of late.
Cena v. Henry-Orton at ringside
Kennedy/Flair-face to face
Melina v. Maria-WWe's two hottest divas(I'll argue that with anyone)
Hardy v. Michaels-I am told this match is given lots of time and comes off very good with many near falls and a clean, uninterupted finish

Should be a decent show.

TNA Against All Odds took place last night and went down like this:
-Tomko ran in to assist Angle of all people with a Death Valley Driver on Christian Cage while the ref was down to score Kurt the fall.
-Abyss d. Judas in a match that was said by the live crowd to be bloody and pretty good but not as good as TNA's first Barb Wire Match between Abyss and Sabu. I say Duh.
-Motor City Machine Guns and Jay Lethal picked up the win in the street fight against Johnny Devine and Team 3D. Lethal left with the x-division title. It seems a last minute stipulation was added that whoever pins Devine wins the belt i.e; Black Machismo. I'm starting to agree w Sean about this title, and that doesn't happen often.
-Kong retained Knockouts Title defeating ODB
-Tomko and AJ successfully retained tag belts earlier in the night against BG James and father
-Steiner d. Petey Williams to leave with both the X-Division title shot case as well as the world. This match had some good wrestling but also a lot more of the pose/mock-pose, kill time during the match filler crap that was a good idea that's been repeatedly beaten to death week in and week out and hopefully for all of us we've been insulted by it for the last time.
-Booker T and Robert Roode wrestled to a double countout. What do people see in Robert Roode? Generic heel?
-Traci Brooks rolled up Payton Banks in a match that nobody cares about.
-Finally, Rhino returned to gore James Storm and help Eric Young pick up the victory to retain the Drinking Championship. After the match Rhino cut a promo about how he is back to kick ass and has lots to say this Thursday on Impact. Be warned.

TNA Impact the video game is scheduled for release on June 2nd of this years. Wrestling gamers should note that this game is 'supposed to' revolutionize wrestling gaming the way No Mercy did on the N64 console almost 10 years ago.

Kurt Angle has been quoted saying Bobby Lashley will be TNA's next 'acquisition.'
There are however also rumors that Lashley has met with reps from MMA.

Booker T will be getting a lighter schedule in the coming months to heel from several minor injuries that have bothered him as of late. Nothing major is wrong with the former G.I.Bro, however the feeling in TNA is with so much talent on the roster right now there is no need to overwork the still relatively new to the company former King Booker. One example of his work rate being reduced can be seen in the New York area TNA dates in late February. Originally billed to headline were Angle v. Booker for the title. As of this writing the cards have now been modified and show Angle being challenged by Cage, standing in for Booker. Should still be a treat, especially for any members of the live crowd that didn't see the ppv.

How's my spelling, jerk?

'Wildcat' Chris Harris

If the WWE is willing to sign Chris Harris to a developmental deal, I'm sure they'd be willing to sign other, better TNA wrestlers.

Kaz is getting burried in a program with Dustin Rhodes. I'm sure he's not too happy going from one of the best matches of the year - the ladder match with Christian Cage - to nearly beating Kurt Angle for the TNA World Championship to wrestling Dustin Rhodes for a white rat. Maybe Kaz should give Vince McMahon or J.R. a call.

Kevin Nash gave an interview recently with somebody that isn't important and said that he really like the long-term plans that TNA has for Samoa Joe. That's good because Samoa Joe may be the best pro-wrestler not only in that company, but possibly in any North American company (WWE). However, I'd give a pinky to see Samoa Joe jump ship to the WWE. I'm sure he'd get burried on SmackDown, but he might not... Seeing how the crowd reacted to him on his first appearance would be the most interesting thing.

There is plenty of underused talent in TNA and I'm sure they are looking at Chris Harris' new WWE deal and saying to themselves -- 'Hey, I wonder what would happen if I gave the WWE a call. I know what happens if I stay here. I'll watch Kurt Angle cut promos for half an entire show and then I'll have a five minute squash match every other week and take a risky bump. Granted, if I get an opportunity in the WWE, I have to watch John Cena arm wrestle people as the main event, but there are two other brands in that company in which I can flourish. I would also make allot more money with the WWE. Hmmm....' -- at least that is what I would be saying to myself.

Lots n' Lots

...or as my partner in time, Seannie would call it: "an uneventful week in wrestling."

-Maria, Maria, Maria!! Looks like March 7th is the day fellow druelers! There's so much i could say so let's just leave it at that.

-The reason for triple H's raw absence Monday was a sudCden death in the family. Unfortunately, his brother in-law Gordon, husband of hhh's real life sister Lynn passed away unexpectedly earlier on Monday. Best wishes to everyone affected by this tradgedy.

-Al Snow was officially released this past week due to the end of WWe's relationship with Ohio Valley Wrestling. There is simply no remaining need for a trainer any where within WWe or Florida Championship Wrestling.

-Omish Roadkill was released from his developmental deal.

-Smackdown! will be leaving the CW network shortly. It is yet to be determined where it will end up.

-"Wildcat" Chris Harris signed with WWe on January 29th. No word yet on when exactly those of you who don't know how god awful he is will find out. Tay Stuned.

-Ron the Truth Killings has signed with WWe as well. I'd probably put Ron Killings on Smackdown! and Chris Harris in a casket.

-This is just a rumor. Shaq, mania. You'll see like i will.

-In a recent interview Jeff Hardy said his body is very beat up and soar from, get this, motocross. Talk about from left field. What else does this guy do for fun, bullride?Play in traffic? Jeff said his ankles are weak. Said he has a bone chip in one of his kneecaps, chronic pain in both elbows, and two herniated discs, one each in his neck and lower back.
That being said, it is pressing to note that when OIW 'endorses' a hopeful champion, or, well let's just say anything at all, this is really just Sean's word for what Sean wants to happen. In an effort to clear things up, I am proud to unveil, starting now, my word for getting behind a certain superstar for such a push, in context:

-OIW nominates Y2J Chris Jericho for the WWe title. His unmatched talent in every variable that constitutes a wrestling product make him the stand out choice of the RAW brand, in the traditional definition of a World Champion, that is. Good Luck Chris.
(NOte: In this case the word is used perhaps too literally as a Y2J title reign probably won't happen till at least November,08, or January, 09)

2/7/08

ECW

I haven't written anything at all about ECW in a long long time.

I still don't have anything substantial to write about it.

CM Punk beat Chavo Guerrero in a 'Gulf of Mexico' Match. They were in water and they both had goggles and snorkles on. That, Paul Heyman, is EXTREME.

Stevie Richards is mounting a return from his injury... what? He was injured? Oh man... well, apparently he's going to be ok. Good!

Big Daddy V is not only REALLY fat, but he's getting a chance to be the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship via an Elimination Chamber Match. I think he has a very good chance at not winning.

I guess that since I'm blogging about ECW, I'm going to have to blog about SmackDown. Ew... well, I do run a wrestling blog with my partner, The Kidd. He's been covering Total Nonstop Action and I've been covering World Wrestling Entertainment. In actuality, I've only been covering their RAW brand. If I expect the loyal OIW readers to take OIW seriously, I'll have to start covering ECW and SmackDown. I just don't think that there is much to cover.

My new New Year's Resolution is to cover RAW on Monday and ECW on Tuesday and Smackdown on Saturday morning. The Kidd will be covering TNA on Thursday. That's that.

By the way, at the rate RAW is free-falling in quality, TNA should be the best promotion in Professional Wrestling by Monday. Being a life-long WWE fan, however, I'll give Vince McMahon until Wrestlemania to entertain me. (Dear Vince, John Cena is NOT entertaining.)

I'm very excited for TNA Impact later tonight... especially for the train wreck that was RAW.

Is It Even Necessary to Review Raw? The John Cena Chronicles

How bad has Raw gotten in the two weeks that John Cena has been back? Well, for the first time in a year, someone had to kiss Vince McMahon's ass. Also, the main event of Raw was John Cena in an ARM WRESTLING match with Mark Henry... exciting.

Oh.. and John Cena was about to beat Mark Henry - who is supposed to be the World's Strongest Man - when Mark Henry decided he had to use both his arms to defeat John Cena. I guess it's believable because John Cena has more heart?

Jimminy Christmas... they may as well resign Hulk Hogan. Hell, have a John Cena v. Hulk Hogan match at Wrestlemania. It will end in a draw when the official stops the match thirty five minutes into a never-ending test of strength.

I can't deal with this garbage.

I hate Cena.

Overall it was very bad Raw... worse than last week's Raw. I attribute the decline of quality to John Cena.

2/4/08

The Race for the Championship '08

First and foremost, congratulations to the New York Football Giants for their SuperBowl 42 victory. It was the most exciting football game I've ever seen, and I've seen allot of them. I hope Vince McMahon payed close attention to the Giant's storyline this season. It greatly resembled Jeff Hardy's storyline. (By the way, Vince, SuperBowl 42 was the most watched sporting event in history... so maybe rethink your 'John Cena fixation.')

With absolutely nothing happening in the world of pro-wrestling over the weekend... save ShellyMartinez - ECW's Ariel, OIW's good friend Kevin Thorn(e?)'s former valet - appearing in a porn video... OIW has decided to announce it's endorsements for the major championships much like major news publications and politicians are announcing their endorsements for President of the United States. When I say OIW, I really mean just me... Seannie Wan. I'm sure that The Kidd will have different and somewhat abstract endorsements for the major titles and I'm sure Chris Jericho will be involved in one of the MAJOR major titles.

OIW officially endorse Jeff Hardy as the next WWE Champion. He still gets the biggest pops when his music hits. He has put on the most exciting matches in 2007 and thus far in 2008. He is, in my very knowledgeable and wise opinion, the hardest worker in the WWE.

OIW officially endorses The Undertaker as the next World Heavyweight Champion. His title reign ended early due to injury last year. Yes, that is no reason to give him the title back, but he owns Wrestlemania and on the Smackdown roster, he is most deserving of the title. Also, I feel his title reign would have been one of the more interesting storylines and could have quite possibly culminated with him losing said title at Wrestlemania 24. So, let's see him lose at Wrestlemania 25 instead.

OIW officially endorses Samoa Joe as the next TNA World Champion. Joe IS Total NonStop Action Wrestling. He - or possibly AJ Styles - is the most talented wrestler and easily the most popular wrestler in TNA. He is long overdue for a ride at the top of the promotion. As much as I'd like to see him in the WWE, he deserves the top honors in TNA.

OIW officially endorses CM Punk as the next Intercontinental Champion. CM Punk needs to get out of ECW. He can't possibly carry that pile of smelly garbola. He should be on RAW. He should have a major title. He would bring prestige to the Intercontinental title... not that Jeff Hardy doesn't, but Jeff Hardy should be moving on to bigger and better things. CM Punk is the future of this business.

OIW officially endorses Matt Hardy as the next United States Champion. He got hurt and that killed his momentum. However, if he can get back to action even three weeks before Wrestlemania, a showdown with MVP in Orlando is a guarantee. Matt has been working hard in the WWE - even harder than Jeff - for years now and deserves a title. I want some Mattitude at Wrestlemania.

OIW officially endorses 'Black Machismo' Jay Lethal as the next X Division Champion. He is endorsed by default because there is nobody else in the X Division that deserves a title. In all honesty, OIW endorses the end of the X Division and the creation of a new mid-card title that talent such as AJ Styles and Tomko can carry while Kurt Angle is in the midst of his never-ending world title reign.

OIW officially endorses Santino Marella and Carlito as the next World Tag Team Champions. They are funny together and they are funny apart. Neither will ever be successful as a singles wrestler, but together they can reach Edge and Christian-like popularity. With a hot momma Playbody centerfold valet at their side, they are the perfect tag team for 2008.

OIW officially endorses Team 3D as the next TNA Tag Team Champions. I am sold that Buh Buh Ray and Devon are the greatest Tag Team that I've ever seen... if not of all time. They will bring validity to the TNA Tag Team ranks. Admit it, AJ and Tomko have the titles because they can't get a singles title because of Kurt Angle.

OIW does not recognize the other titles - such as the WWE Tag Team Championship and the ECW Championship - because they're lame.

Check back for my Raw review and feel free to comment on our endorsements.

Also, check back for The Kidd's official ripping of my endorsements.

Peace out...

Seannie Wan

Boycott the Main Event?

In response to the Kidd...

If I were booked in a match and I wasn't announced the winner after the closing bell, I would call myself a 'non-loser.' ('Non-loser' is trademarked as of now and I own the trademark and if anyone uses the term 'non-loser,' thou shalt pay me a hefty sum.)

As far as Wrestlemania 24...

MAIN EVENT FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP (and the match with the opening bell representing not only the beginning of this match, but the point at which I head to the parking lot.)
John Cena (c) v. Triple H v. Randy Orton

WINNER: Do I really need to tell you...

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Edge (c) v. The Undertaker

WINNER: The Undertaker, take 2...

UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
M.V.P. (c) v. Matt Hardy

WINNER: Matt Hardy... Matt Hardy will finally get a big win. What? The U.S. title isn't a big win? Chris Benoit held this title... Ric Flair held this title... Arn Anderson... Steve Austin... John Cena... ugh. I hate Cena.

RIC FLAIR'S FINAL MATCH
Ric Flair v. Shawn Michaels

WINNER: Ric Flair... JK! LOL! Although I do think Flair should be ending Michael's career. It would have been daring and interesting and compelling to book Mr. Kennedy in Michael's place. However, Cena has returned and it's back to formula!!!!

MONEY IN THE BANK
Jeff Hardy (in possibly his final match due to death during this match) v. Mr. Kennedy v. Umaga v. Kane v. Rey Mysterio v. C.M. Punk

WINNER: Jeff Hardy - to make up for dropping him down the ladder he's worked his ass off to climb at the first sign of Cena... or Mr. Kennedy - to make up for dropping him down the heel ladder he's worked his ass off to climb at the first sign of Triple H turning heel because Cena is back... or C.M. Punk - to make up for the lack of building any superstar up, besides Jeff Hardy who for some reason is still relegated to Ladder Matches... I'm going with Jeff Hardy because he deserves it the most.

SOME SORT OF GIMMICK MATCH
Chris Jericho v. J.B.L.

WINNER: Chris Jericho... This feud is good for everybody except the wrestling fan. Having worked a combined 4 matches over the last 2 years, they're both ironing out kinks. And who better to work with for either wrestler? Y2J gets to work out kinks with a slow super-heel and J.B.L. gets to work on his speed with a fast super-face. Their popularity will outshine their shit matches. However, by Wrestlemania, I believe these two professionals will be firing on all cylinders and put on the best match of the night.

WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly (c) v. Santino Marella and Carlito

WINNER: Santino Marella and Carlito... these guys are the most entertaining part of Raw more often than not and they deserve more television time. Also, the tag titles should be put on an interesting team.

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
Beth Phoenix (c) v. Ashley (if Vince still thinks people care about her)... or Maria (if the focus is to sell her Playboy issue)... or Mickie James (if the focus of this match is wrestling)

WINNER: People that have already used the bathroom because the bathroom is going to be packed out during this match.

BATISTA MATCH
Batista v. The Big Show

WINNER: Batis...duh...

VINCE MCMAHON MATCH
Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon and The Great Khali v. Hornswoggle and Finlay and Mick Foley

WINNER: Vince McMahon for 24 years of Wrestlemanias!

So there you have it OIW Nation. That's my Wrestlemania. It's not what I expected ten days ago, but it could have been worse... there could be no Jericho and no JBL. What can I do? Vince is all about the kiddies and the kiddies are all about John Cena just like I was all about Hulk Hogan when I was a little boy.

However! Here is my 'Wrestlemania Challenge' to the Kidd... nay, not only the Kidd but every 'real' wrestling fan attending Wrestlemania that was excited for Wrestlemania up until John Cena entered the Royal Rumble...BOYCOTT THE MAIN EVENT!!! I want Cena to make Triple H tap out... again... in front of an empty stadium... or a half-full - yes, I'm an optimist - stadium.

BOYCOTT THE MAIN EVENT. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD. TELL VINCE THAT HE IS KIND OF AN IDIOT WHEN IT COMES TO TALENT. TELL TRIPLE H THAT THIS SHIT WILL NOT FLY WHEN VINCE IS GONE. TELL JOHN CENA THAT THE WORLD IS NOT HIS OYSTER. STAND UP FOR JEFF HARDY AND MR. KENNEDY AND ALL THE TALENT THAT MADE RAW INTERESTING WHILE CENA WAS GONE.

Peace out...

P.S.
TNA was kind of lame. Actually, it was decent, but anytime I see Billy Gunn I just think of wrestling as lame.

Take 2

Alright, so apparently no way out will contain 2 wrestlemania title shot giving elimination chamber matches now. The card for wwe's february ppv now reads:

Orton v. Cena (wwe)

Mysterio v. Edge (world)

Elimination Chamber Raw:
HBK v. HHH v. JBL v. Y2J v. Umaga v. Jeff Hardy

Elimination Chamber SD!:
Bautista v. Taker v. Finlay v. MVP v. Great Khali v. Big Daddy V

Mr. Kennedy v. Flair

If anyone is reading this that has a say, this card is way more promising of action than one main evented by John Cena and triple h ie: Wrestlemania. Please give us a wrestlemania filled with well matched, first time meeting contests. If i only had one wish, it would be to not be subjected to Cena/HHH rematch; taker/hbk(rematch), kennedy/flair(then rematch), or even taker/edge(they wrestled last month on ppv in a triple threat, and incidentally edge isn't undefeated. He lost last year. Any skeptics answer me this, if you're booked in a match, and you're there at opening bell time, and somebody wins that isn't you, what do you call yourself?)

Raw 1/28/2008

Well, the show opened with John Cena and it closed with John Cena. Ah, just like five months ago when I hated Raw. Thank goodness he's back, otherwise the show would probably be enjoyable.

'Hey Everybody,' said Vince McMahon, 'John Cena is back now so anything cool you had going on, well just consider it over. Ok?'

Mr. Kennedy says he's going to end Ric Flair's career. I believe him. Although, he's not going to do it at No Way Out. He's going to end it at Wrestlemania 24... kinda lame.

John Cena will beat Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at No Way Out. Triple H will win the Elimination Chamber match at No Way Out. Surprise! John Cena - Triple H rematch at Wrestlemania 24. I'm glad I'm going!

Jeff Hardy worked as though he didn't care during his God-awful tag match with Chris Jericho against JBL and Randy Orton. Randy Orton is a doofus and a bad wrestler.

Santino Marella is funny. The D-X reunion was funny.

Vince McMahon was mean to Hornswaggle. That wasn't funny. It was cruel.

John Cena... hate him.

Leave It To Cena, WMXXIV hopexpectations!!

John Cena's injury was for fans everywhere a blessing in broad daylight. That is why his surprise early return, in the royal rumble match, and subsequent victory and green light immediately back to the main event at the years biggest event is to those same fans(and his peers) so catastrophically bad. I can't think of a single other situation which would leave such a bad taste in my mouth about advancements in modern medicine and physically therapy, than john cenas super speedy recovery to a serious injury. It just doesnt seem fair. It's no miracle. Curse.. That's the word. Seannie said it best about our wrestlemania smiles..
..the trip itself however, will only include sean and i, despite what was said in a previous post about the inclusion of our subordinates. Sorry guys. Furthermore, as the undisputed 2007 writer/personality/OIW fan icon/etc. of the year, and more importantly, #1 in all of your puny hearts i can assure you, that when I take our friend Seannie to WMXXIV, it will be like taking him to hell and back and when the smoke settles, somebody will be chokeslammed in the name of the FATHER, and the SON, and the ..(fan interaction).

Pressing foward..

So everybodies always asking me, 'so, the kid, what type of card would you like to see for wrestlemania based on events of the present?'
So basically, as of right now, anyway, i present my wrestlemania hopexpectations:

$ in the bank:
(It's difficult to include all of the superstars i want to see in the card, and all the superstars that are just going to be booked regardless of what i hopexpectate, no denying. That being said i also can't deny that this match especially is WWe's way to include any extra mid to main event level personas on the years card. Yatta yatta yatta i am going to go with the 8 man match for inclusions sake and also the sake of likelyhood, but i am doing it with the match itself in mind, though i did give thought to some Bautista involvement)
Here we go.

Shelton Benjamin Big Show
Snitsky Rey Mysterio
MVP Matt Hardy
Jon Morrison Umaga

Chk.

HHH v. JBL-it only makes too much sense to me to start up a huge fued between these two huge egos on either side of the goodguy/badguy spectrum, while that is still the case. This match and its build up has limitless heat potential for both. Jbl is awesome at being evil personified.

Kennedy v. Y2J -What would be better, the verbal banter between two gifted stickmen, or the action packed edge of your seat match they would put on? nO, seriously, i cant figure it out.

Taker v. Cena - Cena chooses the smackdown, uh i mean world title to challeng for at WMXXIV meanwhile takers wins the title from Edge at no way out (with help from the debuting 'Othertakers' in fending off Edge's 'Edgeheads'), forcing two guys who nobody can see losing a match at this years wrestlemania to square off.

Flair v. Orton- for the wwe championship. High Stakes.

Michaels v. jeff Hardy- i dunno, maybe one of them should turn heel since being a face hasn't really brought too much perspective good luck to either of them, and since the potential for a match classic between them is inevitable.

Edge v. Cm Punk, unveiled as one of the othertakers- I know what you're thinking,... and yor probably right.

London/Kendrick
Holly/Rhodes
Carlito/Mariella

in some sort of gimmick match. In the spirit of including the tag team division on the grandest stage of them all, as well as the above mentioned, for the most part talented competitors. Good stuff could go down if done right.

That wraps it up i didnt include a womens match but i do hope to see maria scantily clad to round out my evening. Chk again. I'll tell Seannie to post up on or before raw tommorrow to keep our beloved OIW fans in tune with our two cents, and Seannie? ..well Seannie will do just that because i have told him so. Cheers!

Royal Rumble...?

'What the fuck just happened?'
- John Kanteen moments after the Royal Rumble went off the air.

On behalf of the entire staff here at 'Outside Interference Wrestling,' and as head-editor/writer/idea man/athlete/babyface, I must apologize to the OIW Nation for the lack of posts and videos and pictures and polls and what has come to be known in some social circles as '...the most pro-wrestling fun on the Internet.'

I offer no excuses and I expect no sympathy as head-editor/writer/idea man/athlete/babyface of OIW. However, my colleague, and assistant to the head-editor/writer/idea man/athlete/babyface, The Kidd will be appearing at the Broadway Mall and trying to come up with legitimate reasons for our absence in your lives and assuming that you'll understand why we hadn't found seven (7) minutes over the last month and a half to type out the results of a Friday Night Smackdown.

The important thing is that during our hiatus, I've realized that I hate John Cena. I don't mean that I hate John Cena, the human being; I mean I hate John Cena, the WWE product. I don't hate the product of John Cena because he can't wrestle as well as half the talent in the WWE locker room. I don't hate the product of John Cena because is the ONLY attempt at a major story-line on the Raw brand. I don't hate the product of John Cena because he is a poor man's The Rock. I hate John Cena because he is crammed down my throat and I don't have the ability to refuse.

I am a wrestling fan and no matter how bad the WWE may get, I'm watching their show every Monday night. I get the same feeling of excitement and rush of adrenaline on the Sunday of a Pay-Per-View as I got when I was a 12 years old. I think that a well-constructed wrestling match, like Chris Benoit v. JBL at Wrestlemania 22, is art. I appreciate the amount of work needed to put a wrestling match together by both the performers and the announcers. I think a well-written storyline can be more compelling that many Hollywood films.
After last night's Rumble, I find myself questioning whether something I truly enjoyed my entire life is something I can enjoy anymore. But, I will keep watching.

I heard John Cena's music hit as the 30th entry into the Royal Rumble match and I knew that the show was over. Four enjoyable months of Monday Night Raw were flushed down the toilet. Great. My subordinates and I here at OIW have our Wrestlemania 24 tickets but we no longer have our Wrestlemania 24 smiles. That mother-fucker's music hit and I knew as soon as I saw him take off his 'Hustle Loyalty Respect' t-shirt that not only was he about to clear out the ring of 8 to 10 wrestlers that are more technically sound than he, but he would wind up winning the match... and not only would he win the match but he would be in the Main Event at Wrestlemania 24... and not only would he be in the Main Event at Wrestlemania 24, but he would win the WWE Championship... and not only would he win the WWE Championship, but he would be taking it back from Randy Orton... and not only would the Main Event of Wrestlemania 24 most likely be a Randy Orton - John Cena rematch, but the backup plan would probably be a Triple H - John Cena rematch.

It suddenly made sense why after 4 months of a strong push - and to be honest, probably the best push I've seen the WWE give someone is a few years - Jeff Hardy lost clean to the top-heel/doofus man-child WWE Champion Randy Orton. He lost clean because he's going to be headed back to mid-card status faster than you can put your stupid hand in front of your stupid face and wave it and say 'You can't see me.' That's it for Jeff Hardy, folks. Oh... and Mr. Kennedy... yeah, that's it for him too. Why? Well, duh... Triple H has to turn heel again so that John Cena can feud with him so that Vince McMahon will love Triple H even more because he puts over the top guy and does the right thing for the company and Triple H can further slip his poisonous talons into the business that I used to love so much so that when Vince McMahon finally dies, Triple H will be in complete control of the Sports Entertainment World. Yes sir, the Connecticut Blue Blood will be the Connecticut Dictator. I call it the 'McMahon-Helmsley Conspiracy.' Obviously, there is no longer room for Mr. Kennedy at the top of the heel food-chain. I guess he and Jeff Hardy are planning out their 'Money In The Bank' high-spots right now... as John Cena goes to shoot 'The Marine 2.'

Speaking of which, I've heard Greg Batista is in the sequel. He plays John Cena's fellow soldier who John Cena thought for dead when their caravan was attacked by blood-thirsty terrorists during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Turns out he survived but had to have his left leg and right arm replaced with a robot leg and a robot arm... also he was kidnapped and hypnotized into hating America. Long story short, the bad guy whips out a revamped, evil Batista and John Cena's like 'Jesus! Batista I thought you were dead!' John Cena has to fight Batista but doesn't really want to because Batista was his buddy but it's ok because at the end Batista is dehypnotized when he remembers this one time that John Cena risked his own life to save Batista's during the war - which obviously wasn't the time that Batista was thought to be killed - and saves the day by killing the bad guy... and the bad guy is played by Christopher Walken.

OH, the pain! Shane! Where are you?!? I fear that you are the WWE's last hope. Come back to television! Save us!

Or perhaps this is what Chris Jericho is saving us from?

Regardless, John Cena is back and along with him will come shitty wrestling television shows. I hate him.
